Palma Nova

Palma Nova is on the south-west coast of Mallorca, not far from Magaluf. However it is very much quieter. The town is purpose built around three white sandy beaches. Whilst the resort is entirely cosmopolitan, it has very much a British flavour with its many friendly bars and restaurants serving up dishes to suit. It is also only about 10 miles from the island capital of Palma, so there is plenty to do for those who need a break from the sand.

Palma Nova is ideal for sunbathing and its three beaches run the length of the horseshoe-shaped bay. The best beach is the central one, known as Playa Palma Nova, boasts a Blue Flag award for cleanliness and being environmentally friendly, having a half-kilometre of white sand shelving gently into the safe, shallow water. All beaches are clean and tidy. The promenade extends all the way to Magaluf giving the appearance that the two towns are almost merged into one. However Pama Nova is the more family-friendly.

Watersports, glass-bottom boat trips, as well as a myriad shops, bars and restaurants are all located along the wide traffic free promenades in the area.

Palma Nova was actually one of the earliest purpose built holiday resorts on the island, but the original fishing harbour still remains, although the fishing boats are now in the minority compared to the large yachts moored in the marina.

Outside of the summer season Palma Nova changes a lot with the younger tourists leaving to make way for more mature travellers and others who are able to take advantage of long winter breaks.

Palma Nova is host to “Golf Fantasia” mini-golf centre with its three floodlit courses winding their way through caves and around tropical waterfalls. It also has several other attractions including the nearby “Karting Magaluf” go-kart track and “Aqualand” water-park close to Magaluf.
